STAR STUDENT.. I'm a Champ!!

I woke up early this morning to fix something in our yahoogroups. I've placed a password protection in the homepage of our groups and I've forgotten to post the username and password. I'm really proud of what I've done because from then on our yahoogroups is improving for the better.

I moved very slowly because I know our professor in Computer Lab will be late again. I left the house at around 6am.

On the way to the entrance of the LRT2 Katipunan station, I met Jona in the line of the bag inspection. It has been a long while since I last saw her. We talked about different news about what's been up to in our lives.. about our classmates.. and the Koreans.. =) The trip to Legarda was just very fast because we talked too much about anything.

When we passed through the Valencia Dormitory (a clock hanging in front of its gate serves as my clock).. I saw the time and it was already 7:15. We scurried a bit because we didn't wanna be late for our class. I reached the second floor lobby and voila!... they were still there. My classmates were waiting at the benches. Just after minutes passed, our professor came and we entered the laboratory.

After spending two hours in the lab for just accomplishing some of the unfinished exercises in the manual, we spend the other hour to watch the match between Engineering and Commerce Basketball Team. We went to the UST Gym. Minutes passed by and still the game hadn't started yet because of the training in basketball with Norman Black. As we were about to leave the gym, the bell rang and signaled the start of the game. We left the gym after a point was made by the Eng'g team.

We arrived at the Roque Ruaño bldg just in time.. actually Ma'am Capati wasn't sill there. During our Filipino class we just checked the papers. I'm really not into good condition when I see our professor. She's indeed an irritant! I received my paper from our teacher and with special mention because I wrote a long essay but she said it was just flowery. She made my work an example for those wrote flowery essays. For that she gave me 0.. there's really an injustice!!.. grrr! In the test I got 51/75.. 82%

The final subject was Calculus. When Ma'am Roque entered the class with the bundle of test papers, I knew that it was going to be my judgment of what I got in the exam. The preliminary exam made me depressed for about a day because of not putting +c in the integrated answer. I wrote about this in my previous blog. We had first a discussion for the first and second hour. It was a new lesson so I had to listen. Minutes before the bell rang, she distributed the papers.. I heard from Elaine that I was the highest but I didn't believe it unless I heard it. When Ma'am Roque was about to give the paper of the student with the highest score... She said Lester Varela.. waaah!!! My classmates applauded. I really can't believe it.. I didn't expect that much especially in Calculus!.. Thank God!

To make matters even better, a ribbon made of carton was pasted in the upper left corner of my paper with this inscription.. "STAR STUDENT".. woaahh!! astig!! and in the upper right corner beside my perfect score of 100 (wo.. i'm really humble.. hahaha) these were written.. "Keep it up! Champ!".. Wo!.. that really made my day!! =)

Stupid mistake

It's the start of our prelim week this day. I am really preparing for it very much because I want to have better grades this semester.

I woke up early and started reviewing my notes in Calculus while listening to my favorite radio station, RX 93.1.. =) I also practiced on our previous exercises because I don't want to miss any topic. It was already 10:30am when I started preparing to go to UST. I left the house at 11:15am and hoped to arrive there at 12noon because our exams is at 1pm and I want to be half an hour or even an hour early.

While I was in the train, between Betty-Go-Belmonte and Gilmore station, an unexpected incident occurred. The train at its great speed suddenly stopped. Passengers were pushed forward. As for me, I was standing and holding on to the hand rails. The train didn't move for about five minutes. I thought we were gonna be stuck there for a long time and I would be late for the exams... whew!! If that happened, I'm not gonna ride in that train again.. =/

I arrived at UST at an early time of 12:15. I found no one there yet at the second floor near Rm. 207. I browsed my notes and review for the remaining minutes before the exam.

The test wasn't that difficult. I even had time to review my answers but after the exams... I found out that I had a FATAL ERROR(exaggerated).. waaaahhh!!.. I forgot to put + c at the integrated form!.. waahh!!.. really STUPID MISTAKE!! grr..

Good to be back..

After a veeerrry long time.. here I am.. I'm back for good.. =)

It's a Sunday.. usually it's a working day for me in the house.. I planned to review today for our prelims on Tuesday. However, I just can't focus on what I'm reading with someone nagging around.. I quitted first on my reviewing and did my chores.

I didn't open my notes after that because I wanted to show him that I won't study and if I fail.. it's his fault.. too bad, but that's the way it should be.. tsk.. tsk..

I slept after eating lunch to make myself relaxed. After an hour and a half of sleeping, I watched a DVD.. White Valentine, by Park Shin Yang and my all-time favorite.. Jeon Ji Hyun. It was good the second time around because the first time I watched it.. I fell asleep. This time, I watched fully the move and I found it very nice.. It somehow moved me.

So, maybe next time that I drop by in this site.. I have a lot of things to say.. I'm just not in the mood to talk much.

First day of 2nd Semester

I woke up early today.. I wasn't really excited to go to school. I hate our schedule this semester because we are in the morning bracket again.

At 4:30am, I was already eating my breakfast. I can't leave the house without giving my stomach something to digest on later.. haha..I moved slowly because I knew it was still very early knowing that there is the Megatren. The hateful part of having a morning class, especially in this season is when taking a bath.. the water is really cold. At around 5:30am, I left our house and began to walk my way to Meralco to ride a jeepney boarding to Katips and then, from there, ride a train to Legarda station and finally a jeepney again to my final destination.. the UST.

My first day in school was just like a normal day in my previous year in UST. I entered our building and went to our room which is most of the time in the third floor. I took a look at room 307 but no one I knew, was there. I thought, maybe I was just too early. I roam around to waste time and decided to go out of the building first. I noticed a group of familiar faces at the hardrock.. My classmates were there. I found out that Elaine was again our classmate. We went to our room after a couple of minutes. We waited for the new professors but just like the previous start of semesters.. many professors do not attend class on the first day. In the 4 classes that we suppose to have, only one professor attended her class. It was our Filipino class.

After the classes, or should I say the class, I went straight home..

Gimick Day

I started my day by checking my email. I woke up at around 6:00 in the morning. I was really excited for our gimick this day. After reading all the new messages in my inbox, that was around 7am, I tuned in to RX. Nobody knew that I would be hanging out with my friends today. Even my mom did not know that I was serious about what I told her last night.

Our plan was to meet at OLOPSC at 9am to get our yearbook and then, go strolling at the mall. We expected that Lawrence and Philip would treat us because Phip's birthday was last Oct. 9 and Law's birhtday will be this coming Oct. 30. I texted Philip about the plan but surprisingly, he did not know that we would go out this day. He told me that he had no money yet to treat us so it turned out that only Lawrence would pay the expenses. At 9:30am, I went to OLOPSC because Rolando texted me that he was already there. I went directly to the cashier and was hoping not to see my previous teachers because I was a bit shy. When I got there, I saw Lawrence and Rolando gazing over the faces of our classmates in the yearbook. We waited for a moment and looked over the photos of our batchmates. After a few minutes, I received a call from Jovanne telling me that she, Jona, and Aleli were already at the gate and asked us to open it for them. We walked towards their place but along the way we met them. We went back to the cashier and got our yearbook. Only Philip wasn't there yet so we waited for him. We strolled around some classrooms and we found out that nothing much really changed except for the aircons in some classrooms. We were suppose to see our previous teahcers at the AVR but we decided not to because Mr. Duavit wasn't there.

We planned to go to Jovanne's house to leave our yearbooks and just wait for Philip there. We just walked from OLOPSC to their house and along the way, we bought playing cards at 7 11. The atmosphere somehow changed when Philip arrived because Jona is fond of making fun out of him. We played "Pusoy Dos" and whoever loses certain questions were forced to ask from him/her. It was a fun because Philip confessed that he sometimes get irritated by Jona's being "makulit".. hehe. Philip's statements made us really laugh. We changed our game to "Lucky Nine" and that time we had involved money. After playing several sets, Jona suggested the game "In Between." It's a cool and a win-or-lose type of game because you have to bet a certain amount of money and your destiny depends on your luck with cards. It was really exciting because the money gets bigger and bigger. When it was already 1pm and nobody has won yet all the money in the bank, we decided to divide it among ourselves. We left their house at 1:30pm and went to the shuttle at the Meralco.

Compared to the previous times that we go to Megamall, this time we were a bit late. We arrived there at around 2:30pm. We immediately looked for a place to eat our lunch and we had decided to eat at KFC. We had difficulty searching for it in the mall because the one that we knew in Mega A was already closed. We even divided the group into two look for it. I was already so hungry when we got there so I ate a lot at the moment that our lunch was served. After having our lunch we directly went to Silver Screen and decided upon what to watch. SOme of us wanted White Chicks but majority liked Doll Master. Lawrence paid for our tickets and then, we entered the movie house. We were a bit early so we stood near the door for a while and waited for the film to finish. The Doll Master is a Korean horror movie. The quality of the movie is just like the other Japanese horror films. In the end, the expected thrilling plot was changed into a dramatic scene. Mina, the doll was somehow beautiful so we liked the movie.The movie ended at around 6pm. By that time, we had no more agendas so I thought we were ready to go home. Since Jona was still to look for a USB cable for her printer, we accompanied her. We strolled around the mall and look for it. We also looked for the gift for Lawrence. Something related for his vanity. Searching for them was really tiring so we decided to break into groups and do whatever we liked and meet up at National Bookstore at 7:30pm. Philip, Rolando and I went to Powerbooks. Jona and Lawrence searched for their thingies. Jovanne and Aleli went for a walk. After some time, Ban and Lheli joined with us three because it was already time for us to meet but Jona and Law were still on the search. Ban called Jona and said that they were already on the way. When they were already there, they said they haven't bought yet the gift for Lawrence so we waited again. The three of us waited at the stairs and then, Ban and Lheli came along.

When we were already complete, we went to the Podium to wait for Jovanne's father. It took us about half an hour waiting there. At long last, her father arrived with her Ninong. We hitched at Jovanne's van and went to their house to get our yearbooks. Along the way, we sang different songs and then we had a small debate about which is the best, Kapuso or Kapamilya.. hehe. It was very funny because nobody gave up defending his/her point of views. We arrived at 7 11 and stopped there. Jovanne's father offered us food and each of us chose our food. We arrived at Jovanne's house at around 10:30. We ate first the food that we bought while watching the life story of Miriam in Maalaala Mo Kaya.. hehe. By 11pm, the rain was still pouring but we wanted to go home so although it was raining, we left. Jovanne's father went out and gave us their umbrellas so that each of us have one. He is really kind to us. Jona came prepared so she had her own umbrella. We walked from their house to Meralco but we first let Aleli ride a tricycle. At Meralco, Philip rode a taxi and then after a few minutes, Rolando's dad arrived with their car. Jona and I crossed the street and I let her first ride a tricycle beside JOllibee. And for me, I walked from there to our house. Haay.. it was really tiring. I arrived at around 11:30 pm.

Long Wait: A Test for my Patience

I have to start my day right. This day is our enrollment. I woke up at around 6am and make myself ready to go to school. I can feel that the sembreak is about to end. I was wearing again my uniform and it felt like another months of challenges are waiting for me to tread by the start of another semester. At first, everything seemed to go right. Nothing unusual happened. It was like another routine in going to school. The usual traveling by jeepney to Katipunan, riding a train to Legarda and boarding a jeepney again to my pit stop -- my school. I arrived at UST at an early time of 8am.

There were many engineering students scattered around the hardrock, in the pavilions and on the benches along the cat walk as I passed along the engineering building. Mostly unfamiliar faces were in my sight. I looked around to find my classmates but none of them was already there. I just walked straight towards the seminary gym hoping to see one. As I cross the drive way near the seminary gym, I saw Sittie, my co-DOST scholar, at the mini burger store. At first, I felt a bit shy to approach her but I knew I should. We had a short conversation and in a short moment we parted ways. I waited in front of the P. Noval court for any of my classmates but I failed to see even one of them. After several minutes, at last, I saw Edward (my co-scholar) and Marlon (my classmate). Without thinking twice, I approached them just to have a companion. I pointed Sittie to Edward and we three had a short time to have conversation. I then, found out that the schedule for enrollment was being strictly implemented so the right time have to be followed. I should have listened to Gino's advice.. tsk..tsk. Because of that, I had to wait for 2pm.

We sat on the benches under the shade of the big trees beside the P. Noval court. I really hate to wait because it's so boring and it's like I'm using up my time for nothing. It was 10am, the guard started to have some announcement and to our surprise the 2nd year enginnering students are already allowed to enroll. Thank God!. :) We immediately fall in line and finally we got inside the seminary gym. First, I enrolled for my PE. I was suppose to get Handball but unfortunately, it was already closed so I had no choice but choose another one. Marlon offered me the same schedule of PE as his so I enrolled for Basketball. The same process went through in enrolling. I assessed my registration form, paid my tuition and got my ID sticker.

Time for me to go home.. yipee! But I decided to buy first a shirt so I rode the Megatren and alighted at Cubao. I strolled in the malls there and look for a shirt but I can't really decide on what to buy. I changed my plan so I went home first. I rode an FX taxi in the terminal. I made a big mistake! The FX taxi had to be filled first with passengers before it departs. I waited again for almost an hour.. grrr. When I finally got home at around 2pm, I ate my lunch, rested and took a nap.

At around 4pm, I decided to go to Sta. Lucia to buy a shirt. I left the house at 5pm. By that time, I have decided on what to buy. First, I went to Sta. Lucia and then to Robinson's Place Metro East. I was at Bench when somebody tapped me at the back. I was surprised to see Jona, Ban, and Lheli. I had this feeling that I would see them there because Jona told me yesterday that they would have their hair relaxed and voila.. I saw them. I was suppose to go home early but they wanted to eat first so we ate at McDonalds and it was Jona's treat... hehe. It was for the second time that she would treat me. After that, we went strolling around the mall and they too bought shirt and other stuffs. It was 8pm when we decided to go home. We rode on the terminal of FX taxi outside RP and knowing that it is a terminal.. we waited for half an hour.. It was already 9pm when I got home.

Glimpse of the past

It's the start of another week!.. I've scheduled this day as another lawkatsa day.. haha.. I was asked by Jona several days ago, if I could join her in accompanying her cousin who would take the entrance exams in UST. I just said yes.. The plan was for us to meet at the Meralco at 10:30. I arrived there a bit late and I was surprised to see that her auntie was also there. I should've gone there a bit early.. tsk tsk.

We rode FX taxi twice.. first, boarding to Cubao and then, to Taft. Along the way, I felt uneasy because I can't normally relax when there is an elder with us especially when Jona's aunt paid our fare twice.. hehe. The trip was so sudden because there was no traffic jam although the weather is so humid.

We arrived at the UST at around 12 noon. We left Jona's aunt because she was to go somewhere in the Post Office?? I felt relieved when it was only the three of us. There were so many people in the campus. Most of them are students who I should say are Thomasian wannabes. It was so funny because some got even lost in a small campus like UST.. hehe. We went directly to the Commerce bldg. because it was the testing center for Jing. Infront of the building was a huge crowd of students and parents. I then remembered the time when I was in their place.. haha.. and I won't dare going back there again!

After some time Jing finally found his mate. We left them in line and we went to Tinoko Park. Luckily we found some vacant benches in the pavillion. We just played cards and after several sets, we decided to have lunch at McDonalds Dapitan. The time passed by quickly. We had series of stories to talk about.

Sholarship: On the process

I woke up early this morning. I heard my mom shouting and calling on our names as if something happened. I also heard an unfamiliar voice which, I know, coming from somebody that is a friend of my mom. Then I was up.. I saw the visitor and along with her was the puppy that my mom was telling us a few weeks ago. The puppy is black and a bit hairy. It was a nice thing that we have a new pet!

Aside from that morning jolt, I know I really have to be up that early to process something about my scholarship. I prepared myself, eat my breakfast and left the house at around 9am.

It was just like a normal day of going to school. When I got to the UST, I immediately got my certification of grades and went directly out of the building. I also saw there, Darwin who happened to be processing also his scholarship. I just walked from UST to get to the Megatren station in Legarda. I got to the platform and was surprised to see that only few passengers are still in the train. From that moment, I was thinking of how to get to the DOST. I was there for several times but I was with somebody so I don't have to worry of getting lost or what to do.

I rode an ordinary bus boarding to Alabang/Sucat/Bicutan. The trip was long and I just got bored.

How I Faired This Sem..

It's just another ordinary day.. I woke up past 10am and listen to my favorite radio station.. The Monster Radio RX 93.1. As for what I know, this day is the posting of our grades for the first semester of our second year online. Damn! I'm so not excited to view them. Who the hell would be if one knows how one faired in the whole semester.. Anyway, I wasn't even sure about my grades yet but for sure I did a lot of mess this sem.

I was suppose to peek in the website of UST to check if the Viewing of Our Grades Online is already working because for the last time I checked it, (which was last semester) I attempted so many times to have a look on my grades. I clicked on the icon and typed in my Username and Password and voila!! I saw my grades.. I was expecting to see my grades last sem because I just said that maybe they haven't updated it yet. I looked closely on my grades and at first I was happy to see that I even got 2.25 in my PE which was table tennis which made my life really dreadful!! I also feel sad and depressed because the 2's dominated the 1's in my grades!! waaahh!!!

It's really a sad moment for me because since my grade school upto my first year in college I have been in the honors' list and dean's list.. but now.. I almost got kicked out in my scholarship in DOST and averaging 2.01... Anyway, this isn't an end of the road for me.. I have to give the best for the next semester..
